ea Birringer was only fourteen when she made her debut as soloist with the Berlin Symphony Orchestra. Since then she is highly in demand both as soloist and chamber musician. She has performed at important venues like Laeiszhalle in Hamburg, Musikverein in Vienna, Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino in Florence and she played especially for the German Chancellor Angela Merkel when she was awarded with the Karlspreis in Aachen.Lea Birringer is prizewinner at the international violin competitions Kloster Schöntal (Germany), Premio Rodolfo Lipizer (Italy), Louis Spohr (Germany) and Abram Yampolski [Russia]. In 2008 she was the winner of the international competition Johannes Brahms (Austria). For those extraordinary accomplishments, she was honored by her hometown Saarbruecken with the Cultural Prize for young artists.
Aside from her solo career, chamber music has always played a big role. In 2011, Lea Birringer caused a furor together with her sister Esther (Piano). The Duo won the international chamber music competitions Premio Vittorio Gui and Concorso Internazionale di Musica da Camera Città di Pinerolo. Since then, the sisters got numerous invitations for chamber music festivals. Besides the performance of the traditional repertoire, they focus also on rarely played and unknown works.
Born 1986 in Germany, Lea Birringer started playing the violin at the age of three. While still in school, she was admitted into the class for highly talented students at the Mozarteum in Salzburg. After her A-levels she started her studies with Professor Igor Ozim and graduated with honor. At present she continues her studies with Professor Pavel Vernikov at the Conservatory in Vienna. She plays an instrument by Gianbattista Ceruti, Cremona ca. 1800 which was bestowed upon her by the German Musical Instruments Fund.
